Peace Messages and Pledges
To leave a peace message, please go to the Leave a Message page.
“This is a truly inspiring initiative, enabling many people to make a real difference to our environment. I’ve been a keen supporter of this work for many years, and I urge everyone to get involved.”
SIR JONATHON PORRITT C.B.E.
We of Team Southern Lights are also racing on a special mission to help the Earth by inviting you to write an environmental pledge or message of peace, highlighting that individuals can do something about the disharmony of our planet. We will express these messages at the South Pole in a similar way to our peace ceremony at the magnetic North Pole in 2006 and previously on other high spots around the globe. This follows the ancient Tibetan tradition of flying messages on prayer flags to bring peace and harmony to all.
"His Holiness directs me to send you His prayers and good wishes for your venture to the South Pole in late 2008"
Secretary to H.H.THE DALAI LAMA
Examples: “I will plant 6 trees”, “Goodbye large, gas-guzzling car”, “Peace,Man”,“I promise to cut my carbon footprint”,“I pray for no more wars”,“Let there be light”,“May all children be fed”,“May all beings be happy”, “World without walls”,“I wish peace and harmony for all”,“I will care for the Earth”,“Namaste”,“Respect and brotherhood”,“My pledge is to be environmentally aware every day”,“Love is all you need”,“Smile”…
Messages being read out at Resolute, Arctic Circle, in April 2006 (above)
Thank you for being part of this special event *
To leave a peace message, please go to the Leave a Message page
Have a look at the list below of messages, sent to us up to 27th October 2008. Along with your message, these will be going south with us later this year. Any messages sent to us after this date are posted on the Leave a Message page.

Peace is always more vigilant than violence – Those who wish to Impose their will on others only do so because they have not found peace in themselves. Gradually their efforts will lose purpose as they begin to realize that what they seek is not attainable by violent means, and peace will gradually consume their aggression as a new higher purpose dawns in their souls and minds.

A personal Peace Message to the Planet… “One Chord – One Tune”
One chord, in the key of love A psalm of ascension to the heavens above
Suspended pain, so long ago The voice of a Mother’s ebb and flow.
A choir of notes concealed Waiting to calibrate – hymns revealed
Shimmering pastures, emerald green To a world of wonder, land of dreams.
A magic mirror – beyond Holy deeds. Inaudible song
A falling star brings peace of mind Your silent beauty, a melody sublime.
Songs remember-ed, Friends with stories left unsaid
A flower is given the chance to bloom One chord of love, a goddess – one tune.

Peace is as pleasant as walking under the moon at night. Peace is no fighting with one another,
peace is relaxation. Peace is everyone having a nice quiet nap. Peace is lovable.

There is peace everywhere. On the streets, in the parks. All around the world. Every where you look you find peace. But sometimes peace is broken, people start to fight, sooner or later people get back to normal and everything is calm. I hope that the world will be peaceful for millions of years to come, and forever and ever have peace in our hearts

Peace is a time when no one is fighting, when people are laughing, singing and dancing. Peace is a time when there is no war, a time for our spirits to soar! Peace is for big and small, rich and poor, a time for happiness galore!

Peace is a time of happiness and joy, when war has stopped. Peace is for people who love and care, when there is peace there is hope everywhere. Some countries live in peace while other countries still have war. People who like peace are good because they don’t create battles and cause injuries. May we achieve peace for ever more.
ALISA aged 10 from Australia

Peace is dreaming about people who live with war. Peace can make everything perfect, Peaceful are your dreams, may they always come true. Evil never wins, so let’s break our guns and live a peaceful life.

Peace is a time of pleasantness and quietness, when nobody in the world is fighting. As we live long and wisely we shall never forget peace. Sometimes peace is shattered. It may be war or people arguing, but sooner or later peace comes back together. I believe the true meaning of peace is having no fights. That is when people can live happily
SHARON aged 10 from Australia

Peace means tranquility, not violence and war. Anyway, violence is against the law. Let the rooms be full of happiness, with courtesy, loyalty and courage. Live with a God and a love for mankind. Many hands build a house so many hearts can make a world. let there be peace!

Around the world and in the sea. Out there in space and every other place. Everything and everyone longs for peace. Peace is fragile. Peace is strong, peace can be broken easily, yet it can last long, peace isn’t something beyond control. Arguments between friends and colleagues, arguments between races and nations, all these things break the ‘fragile’ peace. Bonds between families and friends, peace between countries around the world. all these things strengthen peace. ‘WE’ control peace around the world. ‘WE’ keep the world peaceful, can’t rely on anyone else. Don’t just long for peace – work for it,
